Describe/outline your journey at SWKC so far
SWKC has provided invaluable support in nurturing my personal and professional endeavours, including participation in professional development courses aimed at launching our Physiotherapy and multidisciplinary intensive programs. It brings me great joy to witness the remarkable progress our clients achieve during these intensives, as it empowers them with newfound independence and engagement opportunities.
What drew you to a career in OT/Speech/Physiotherapy/Dietetics?
What drew you to a career in OT/Speech/Physiotherapy/Dietetics (1-2 sentences)? From a young age, I became involved in volunteer work, and my interest in the disability sector blossomed as I met and worked alongside inspiring clients and families facing various challenges. Seeking opportunities to create positive change in my community became a priority, and I found immense fulfilment in my degree, which equipped me with the skills to make a positive change in my community.
What is the best part of being a paediatric therapist/ What is the highlight of your day/week as a paeds therapist?
My work excites me everyday as I can be the driving force for positive change in the lives of the children and families I work with. This is in line with my personal mission statement. At SWKC, each day presents a unique experience, as I engage with a diverse caseload and have the privilege of interacting with clients in various settings, ranging from their homes to our exceptional gym space, the hydrotherapy pool, local parks, climbing centres, and schools. Embracing this dynamic environment, where no two days are alike, is a source of immense joy and fulfilment for me.
Can you share a favourite book, movie, or TV showFavourite equipment or resource to use in therapy and why?
I absolutely love using the spider cage in the gym. There are an infinite amount of exercises we can do using this resource to help our clients. I also love seeing the freedom of movement the kids have using the spider cage.
What hobbies or interests do you pursue outside of your work?
On my days off, I love hiking as being outdoors in nature allows me to recharge for the upcoming week. I also enjoy planning overseas trips annually, immersing myself in diverse cultures and experiences. I dedicate my spare time to volunteer work, cherishing the chance to contribute positively to my community while fostering connections beyond the boundaries of my daily routine.
Can you share a favourite book, movie, or TV show
I enjoy re-watching episodes of Friends or childhood movies like Lion King, Finding Nemo and Harry Potter. My favourite book series from my childhood is the Series of Unfortunate Events.
What is one fun fact about yourself that people might be surprised to learn?
I began my journey in Occupational Therapy, but ultimately, my passion shifted towards Physiotherapy. Although I considered pursuing a double degree initially, my eagerness to commence my career as a Physiotherapist prevailed.
