Now Open in Picton – Specialist Therapy for Children with Physical and Complex Needs

South West Kids Clinic is excited to announce the opening of our new location in Picton, bringing trusted paediatric therapy services closer to families in the Wollondilly region. Our goal is to make high-quality care more accessible to children in rural areas, offering the same exceptional services provided at our Prestons clinic.

With over 15 years of experience, we’ve built a reputation for delivering world-class multidisciplinary therapy for children. Unlike many generalist therapy providers, our team has specialised training and experience in supporting children with movement difficulties, neurological conditions, genetic syndromes, and other diagnoses that impact physical development, feeding, and functional independence.

Our focus on evidence-based, holistic care helps children achieve their full potential in a supportive, family-centred environment.

Our Picton clinic is equipped with the latest rehabilitation technology to provide the highest quality care. We’re proud to bring comprehensive assessments and interventions directly to local families, ensuring children can access the therapy they need without having to travel far.

We offer the following services at our Picton location:

Occupational Therapy

Our Occupational Therapists work closely with children who have physical challenges that impact their ability to participate in everyday activities. This may include fine motor delays, self-care difficulties, or upper limb differences.

We provide a range of services including:

  • Equipment trial and prescription for seating, bathing, toileting, and mobility

  • Upper limb rehabilitation, including casting and splinting for children with neurological or muscular impairments

  • Goal directed therapy that helps children learn new skills to build independence, coordination, and confidence through practical, meaningful tasks

  • Task adaptation and modification to increase a child’s ability to succeed in everyday tasks with efficiency and ease

Our Speech Pathologists in Wollondilly support children who have difficulties with communication, feeding, and swallowing – especially those who are non-speaking, use communication devices, or require assistance due to physical or neurological conditions.

In addition to communication support, we offer:

  • Feeding services for children who are unable to safely or effectively swallow

  • Support for children who are transitioning off tube feeds

  • Use of high-tech AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication), including switch-access devices and eye gaze technology, to give every child a voice

We work closely with families, schools, and medical teams to build communication and mealtime plans that work in real life, not just in the clinic.

Our paediatric physiotherapists are dedicated to helping children with neurological and musculoskeletal conditions improve movement, strength, and mobility. Whether your child is learning to sit, stand, walk, or needs support with equipment like walkers or orthotics, our team provides therapy that is goal-driven and individually tailored.

Interventions include:

  • PediaSuit therapy to support strength, coordination, and postural control

  • DMI (Dynamic Movement Intervention) to target motor skills development through structured, progressive exercises

  • Programs tailored for children with conditions such as cerebral palsy, brain injury, neuromuscular conditions, or developmental syndromes affecting movement

  • Equipment trial and prescription to ensure that each child has access to the right equipment to achieve independence within their environment.
  • Dynamic taping, casting and splinting as well as supportive garments such as theratogs.

Nutrition is critical for all children, particularly those with physical challenges. Our Dietitians create personalised nutritional plans that meet the specific needs of children with physical disabilities. We ensure each child receives the necessary dietary support to promote optimal growth, development, and learning.

Frequently asked questions
How do we access your services?

Simply call our friendly reception team on (02) 4640 5090. You may get through to our main clinic in Prestons, however ourteam are able to answer any questions and book your child into our Picton clinic over the phone from either location.

We currently have Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology and Physiotherapy available by appointment within the Picton area. In the coming new year, we are hoping to extend these services to include Dietetics.

As we are situated within Picton Mall, you are welcome to park in the underground parking facilities and take the ramped escalator into the mall and use the corridor next to Liquorland to access the back of the complex.

Alternatively, off street parking is also available.

This depends on the needs of your child. Generally most sessions occur inour clinic as we have the range of equipment on hand to trial within the session before recommending an alternative to use at home or school.
We are able to provide one-off consultations to discuss your child’s progress in that setting and collaborate on ways to best support your child at school or home.

You can contact our clinic directly or via email to discuss your child’s needs. Our reception team will ask quick questions about your child to determine the next steps required.
