Chloe

“I started at SWKC in 2014 as a recent graduate Speech Pathologist. After working with children of a range of ages and presentations, I found my passion in working with adolescent clients. I was given the opportunity to make this age group the core of my caseload. I began supervising other therapists and students on placement, and in 2021, I moved into my role as Clinical Team Leader, which involves more leadership duties. I have always had great leadership role models throughout my years at SWKC. I have also been involved in more formal learning opportunities for team members looking to progress into leadership roles. Both of these have helped me to shape my own leadership style.”
“I was a new mum when I started with SWKC in 2017 and felt very supported right from the start. Not just professionally but also personally. As a mum of an 8-week-old baby at that time, I can truly attest to the flexibility and support that SWKC provides to its team! I’ve had a range of flexible options during my time here that have suited my circumstances at different stages, including flexible options during school holidays, working a full-time week over four days, working from home and flexibility around completing admin tasks at home.”
“I’ve been working at SWKC since 2021. It was amazing to have such a fulfilling job early in my career. When I was looking for jobs as a new graduate, one thing that was really important to me was whether the workplace would help me grow my clinical reasoning skills and provide continued learning opportunities. The regular supervision sessions with the physio senior were really beneficial to discuss specific clinical questions and scenarios. I was then able to easily put into practice the strategies I have received from these sessions. I also have time for independent learning blocked into my work diary, which, as a new grad, ensures that I am continuously learning and working as an evidence-based practitioner. Furthermore, SWKC strongly encourages and provides an allowance for continued professional development. We are so privileged to be able to access so many external as well as internal courses from varied experts in the field.”

There are several ways that we assist students in gaining more experience whilst studying at uni; however, the most popular, hands-on experience is volunteering to assist in running our School Holiday Group programs with one of our qualified therapists. These run most school holidays. To enquire, please reach out to us at [email protected]

We welcome new graduates to apply as we can provide in-house and external training to develop the skills required to work with our families.
We offer uni students and curious therapists the opportunity to visit our clinic for a half or full day to experience what it is like to work with our families in private practice. We welcome you to call us to book a time to visit.
